U.S. State Department helps thousands of Americans leave Middle East since February

Since February 28, more than 17,500 American citizens have returned to the United States from the Middle East. Of these, over 8,500 arrived yesterday. In addition to those returning directly to the U.S., many Americans have traveled to countries in Europe and Asia or are still on their way back.

The State Department’s 24/7 Task Force has supported nearly 6,500 Americans abroad by providing security advice and travel help. The department stated it will keep helping any American citizen abroad who wants to leave the Middle East.

"Through the State Department’s 24/7 Task Force, we have assisted nearly 6,500 Americans abroad, including offering security guidance and travel assistance."

"The U.S. State Department will continue to actively assist any American citizen abroad who wishes to depart the Middle East, to do so."
