Deputy Secretary Landau to lead U.S. delegation to Chile for presidential inauguration

Deputy Secretary Christopher Landau will lead the United States Presidential Delegation to the inauguration of President-elect José Antonio Kast in Santiago, Chile from March 10-12, according to a March 9 announcement.

The visit is intended to reset the relationship between the United States and Chile and establish groundwork for progress on shared priorities. These include upgrading security partnerships, securing supply chains, and expanding commercial ties to attract U.S. investment.

During his time in Santiago, Landau is scheduled to meet with President-elect Kast as well as senior Chilean officials. The meetings are expected to focus on strengthening bilateral cooperation in areas important to both countries.

The Presidential Delegation includes Victoria Miller, Deputy Chief of Staff in the Office of the Undersecretary for Economic Growth, Energy, and Environment; Brandon Judd, Ambassador of the United States to Chile; Michael Kozak, Senior Bureau Official at the Bureau of Western Hemisphere Affairs; Joseph Humire, Acting Assistant Secretary of War for Homeland Defense and Americas Security Affairs at the Department of War; and Viviana Bovo, Senior Advisor at the Bureau of Western Hemisphere Affairs.

The trip highlights ongoing efforts by both nations to deepen diplomatic engagement and address mutual interests.
