Jason Paul New, a 20-year-old resident of Semmes, Alabama, pleaded guilty on Mar. 11 to multiple felony charges in federal district court, according to the United States Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Oklahoma. The charges include four counts of assault with a dangerous weapon with intent to do bodily harm in Indian Country, one count of using, carrying, brandishing, and discharging a firearm during and in relation to a crime of violence, and one count of interstate transportation of a stolen vehicle.

The case is significant due to the violent nature of the offenses and their occurrence within the boundaries of the Choctaw Nation Reservation in Atoka County. The firearms charge mandates at least ten years in prison consecutive to any other sentence and up to a $250,000 fine. According to the indictment, New assaulted four victims with a dangerous weapon on May 30, 2025. He also knowingly used and discharged a firearm during these assaults. On the same day, he transported a stolen motor vehicle from Alabama into Oklahoma while knowing it was stolen.
