Two men sentenced to life plus 100 years for contract killing of teenager

Lenard White and Sheldon Robinson have been sentenced on Mar. 16 to two consecutive life terms plus 100 years each for the murder of a 17-year-old girl, I.S., in Hernando County, Florida. The sentencing was announced by United States Attorney Gregory W. Kehoe.

The case centers on the killing of I.S., a high school student who had reported being sexually assaulted the day before her death. Prosecutors said that White orchestrated the murder after leaving the state to create an alibi, while Robinson carried out the shooting for $6,000.

A federal jury found both men guilty on Oct. 29, 2025, of charges including conspiracy to commit murder for hire, premeditated first degree murder, discharge of a firearm during and in relation to a crime of violence resulting in death, tampering with witnesses, and obstruction of justice. Evidence presented at trial showed that Robinson fired multiple gunshots at I.S. and her mother when they answered their door on Feb. 7, 2023. I.S. was killed as she tried to flee; her mother survived despite being shot several times.

Investigators from the Hernando County Sheriff’s Office and Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives executed more than 70 search warrants during their investigation. Six months after the murder, authorities recovered the weapon used in the crime buried behind Robinson’s home. Both defendants attempted to obstruct justice by disposing of evidence and tampering with witnesses.

A third individual involved in the case, Keshawn Woods, previously pleaded guilty and was sentenced on Jan. 13, 2026 to seventeen years in federal prison for his role in the crime.

The investigation received assistance from multiple agencies including the Florida Department of Law Enforcement and State Attorney’s Office for the Fifth Judicial Circuit.
