Former Fort Myers resident sentenced to prison for firearm trafficking scheme

Osnyson Desrosiers, a former resident of Fort Myers now living in Atlanta, Georgia, was sentenced on Mar. 17 to two years in federal prison for his involvement in a firearm trafficking scheme. U.S. District Judge Kyle Dudek handed down the sentence after Desrosiers pleaded guilty on November 19, 2025, to conspiring to make false statements and making false statements to firearms dealers. The announcement was made by U.S. Attorney Gregory W. Kehoe.

The case centers on events from early-to-mid 2022, when Desrosiers and co-defendant Derick Desir worked together to purchase several dozen Glock handguns from licensed firearms dealers in Florida using false information. They claimed to be the actual buyers or transferees of the firearms while knowing that the guns were intended for unlawful trafficking to a third party. Investigators found that these firearms were later smuggled into Canada, where Canadian law enforcement has since recovered several of them during various investigations.

Desir was previously sentenced in November 2025 to three years and ten months in federal prison for his role in the conspiracy.

The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives and Homeland Security Investigations led the investigation into this case. Assistant United States Attorney Simon Eth prosecuted the matter.

This prosecution is part of Operation Take Back America, an initiative by the Department of Justice aimed at combating illegal immigration, eliminating cartels and transnational criminal organizations, and protecting communities from violent crime through coordinated efforts with Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Forces and Project Safe Neighborhood.
