Olean man pleads guilty to drug charge

Isaiah Josiah Dre Riley, 23, of Olean, New York, pleaded guilty on Apr. 2 to possession with intent to distribute five grams or more of methamphetamine. The announcement was made by U.S. Attorney Michael DiGiacomo before U.S. District Judge Lawrence J. Vilardo.

The charge carries a mandatory minimum sentence of five years in prison and could result in up to 40 years and a fine of $5 million.

According to Assistant U.S. Attorney Matt I. Kass, law enforcement observed Riley making sales of crack cocaine from a residence on 3rd Avenue in Olean in December 2024. On January 14, 2025, investigators executed search warrants at the residence and seized suspected cocaine, methamphetamine, fentanyl, drug paraphernalia, and $2,579 in cash. Riley was taken into custody at the scene.

The investigation involved the Drug Enforcement Administration under Special Agent-in-Charge Farhana Islam; the Southern Tier Regional Drug Task Force under Chautauqua County Sheriff James Quattrone; and the Olean Police Department under Chief Ron Richardson.

Sentencing for Riley is scheduled for September 28 before Judge Vilardo.
