Georgia man sentenced to prison for threats against federal law enforcement officer

Stephane Brice, a 23-year-old from Georgia, was sentenced on Mar. 30 to 27 months in federal prison for making interstate threats to assault and kill a federal law enforcement officer. U.S. District Judge Thomas P. Barber handed down the sentence after Brice pleaded guilty on Jan. 6, according to an announcement by United States Attorney Gregory W. Kehoe.

The case centers around an incident that began on March 18, 2025, when Brice called the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) regarding a tax refund issue. During the call, he became frustrated and threatened to go to the IRS office with intentions of killing and beheading IRS employees.

Court documents show that the following day, a federal law enforcement officer contacted Brice as part of an investigation into his earlier threats. During this second call, Brice shouted additional profanity-laced threats directed at the officer and threatened to burn down his house with his children inside.

The Treasury Inspector General for Tax Administration (TIGTA) and the Internal Revenue Service investigated the case. Special Assistant United States Attorney Joseph Wheeler III and Assistant United States Attorney Kelly Milliron prosecuted it.
