U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) announced on Apr. 6 that its officers arrested several individuals with serious criminal convictions during the Easter weekend.

The announcement highlights ICE's ongoing efforts to remove people convicted of violent crimes, sexual offenses involving children, and drug trafficking from communities across the country.

Acting Assistant Secretary Lauren Bis said, "Even on the Holy day of Easter, ICE does not take a day off. While Americans celebrated Easter with their families, ICE officers were risking their lives to arrest the worst of the worst. Some of the Easter weekend arrests included murderers, pedophiles, and drug traffickers. Under the leadership of President Trump and Secretary Mullin, DHS is committed to protecting our homeland and will not stop getting criminals out of communities."

According to ICE's statement, those arrested include Wilson Zuniga-Ayala from El Salvador with multiple burglary and larceny convictions; Rodolfo Lorenzo-Castro from Guatemala for manslaughter in Florida; Reinier Fuentes-Armentero from Cuba for child sexual performance offenses in Palm Beach; Victor Asuncion from the Philippines for a lewd act upon a child in California; Arturo Barrios-Medina from Mexico for possession of child pornography in Texas; Marco Antonio Sanchez Alvarez from Mexico for assault and drug trafficking in Washington; Marco Sanchez from Mexico for a criminal sexual act in New York; Iurii Mamukayevich Sopromadze from Russia for theft and stalking in California; Mario Antonio Alvarado-Calate from Guatemala for assault in Texas; Adilson Antonio Reyes-Arriola from El Salvador for cocaine distribution conspiracy in Rhode Island federal court; Juan Antonio Jimenez-Uvalle from Mexico for major theft in Texas; Jose Mario Gonzalez-Amaro from Mexico for petit larceny in Nevada; Joel Isaac Gonzalez-Ramirez from Mexico for vehicle theft without consent in California; Yordan Carreras-Cespedes from Cuba for burglary charges in Florida.

ICE said these actions reflect an ongoing commitment to public safety by targeting individuals with serious criminal records regardless of holidays or weekends.
