Corbin Vincent sentenced to 15 years for firearm possession as a felon

Jonathan D. Ross U.S. Attorney | U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of Arkansas

Corbin Vincent, a multi-convicted felon from Hot Springs, was sentenced on April 7 to 180 months in federal prison for being a felon in possession of a firearm. Jonathan D. Ross, United States Attorney for the Eastern District of Arkansas, announced that United States District Judge Lee P. Rudofsky handed down the sentence.

Vincent's sentencing follows his conviction after a two-day jury trial. The case highlights ongoing efforts by law enforcement and prosecutors to address gun offenses involving individuals with violent criminal histories.

According to court proceedings, agents involved in an Intensive Supervision Program received a screenshot from social media showing Vincent displaying a firearm while on active parole. When Vincent arrived at his parole office appointment, agents detained him and searched both his person and vehicle. They found a backpack containing his identification card and a Taurus G2C .40 caliber firearm loaded with one round in the chamber and ten rounds in the magazine. Vincent admitted to purchasing the gun from a friend for $200 because he felt he needed protection.

Vincent has at least three prior convictions for violent felonies, including state felony convictions for possession of firearms by certain persons and four robberies committed within one week in 2007. As such, he is classified as an armed career criminal under federal law and received an enhanced sentence without eligibility for parole.

The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives investigated this case with assistance from the North Little Rock Police Department and the Division of Community Correction. First Assistant United States Attorney Michael Gordon and Assistant United States Attorney Stacy Williams prosecuted the case.
