Eau Claire man sentenced to 10 years for methamphetamine trafficking

Jason Bloedow, a 41-year-old resident of Eau Claire, Wisconsin, was sentenced on April 8 by U.S. District Judge William M. Conley to ten years in federal prison for possessing methamphetamine with the intent to distribute, according to an April 10 announcement from Chadwick M. Elgersma, United States Attorney for the Western District of Wisconsin.

Bloedow pleaded guilty to the charge on January 8. The case highlights ongoing efforts by federal authorities to address drug trafficking and related crimes in the region.

According to court records, Bloedow sold methamphetamine to a confidential informant during March and early April of last year. On April 24, officers arrested him as he returned from Minnesota after picking up methamphetamine. A search of his vehicle revealed approximately two pounds (881 grams) of methamphetamine in a box. During subsequent interviews, Bloedow admitted he had sold about twenty-eight pounds of methamphetamine over three months and made $48,000 in profit.

At sentencing, Judge Conley said that Bloedow’s criminal conduct had continued despite his age and emphasized his increasing involvement in drug trafficking as factors behind the ten-year sentence.

The investigation was conducted by the West Central Drug Task Force; Dunn County and Chippewa County Sheriff’s Offices; U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration; and with assistance from Dunn County and Eau Claire County District Attorney’s Offices. Assistant U.S. Attorney Jennifer Remington prosecuted the case.

This prosecution is part of Operation Take Back America—an initiative by the Department of Justice aiming to combat illegal immigration, eliminate cartels and transnational criminal organizations, and protect communities from violent crime.
