U.S. Attorney’s Office announces National Crime Victims’ Rights Week event in Raleigh

U.S. Attorney Ellis Boyle announced on April 17 that the Eastern District of North Carolina will observe National Crime Victims’ Rights Week with a ceremony scheduled for April 21 in Raleigh. The event, which is open to the public and media, will take place at the State Archives Building from 11:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., with registration required.

The ceremony aims to recognize the rights of crime victims and highlight community efforts supporting them during National Crime Victims’ Rights Week, which runs from April 19-25 this year. The event is sponsored by the North Carolina Victim Assistance Network and Members of the Victim Services Interagency Council of North Carolina.

The U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of North Carolina prosecutes federal crimes and litigates civil matters to protect communities, according to the official website. The office also promotes community safety through initiatives such as the Heroin Education Action Team and Project Safe Neighborhoods, as reported by its official website.

According to its official website, the U.S. Attorney's Office covers federal criminal and civil cases in 44 easternmost counties in North Carolina, operating six federal courthouses located in cities including Raleigh, Fayetteville, Wilmington, New Bern, Greenville and Elizabeth City. It employs a staff of 119 people including attorneys and support staff.

The district also includes areas with major military installations such as Fort Bragg, Camp Lejeune and Seymour Johnson Air Force Base according to its official website.

The observance reflects ongoing efforts by local agencies to promote victims' rights while reinforcing partnerships between law enforcement organizations across eastern North Carolina.
