Brevard County man sentenced to 15 years for distributing fentanyl and methamphetamine

Nico Jonte Lennear, a 35-year-old resident of Rockledge, was sentenced on April 21 to 15 years in federal prison for distributing fentanyl and methamphetamine. U.S. District Judge Julie S. Sneed handed down the sentence after Lennear pleaded guilty on December 10, 2025, according to an announcement by U.S. Attorney Gregory W. Kehoe.

The case highlights ongoing efforts by law enforcement to address the distribution of dangerous drugs in local communities.

Court documents show that law enforcement officials used a confidential source to make two controlled purchases from Lennear in Melbourne, Florida. Each purchase involved four ounces of methamphetamine and one ounce of fentanyl. When Lennear was arrested, authorities found more than 80 grams of additional methamphetamine in his rental vehicle. In total, he was held responsible for distributing over 300 grams of methamphetamine and more than 50 grams of fentanyl mixtures.

The investigation into Lennear's activities was conducted by the Drug Enforcement Administration, the Federal Bureau of Investigation, and the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office. Assistant United States Attorney Megan Testerman prosecuted the case.

This sentencing is part of broader efforts by federal and local agencies to combat drug trafficking offenses involving substances like fentanyl and methamphetamine.
