U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement arrested several individuals on Apr. 29 who were convicted of serious crimes such as murder, aggravated arson, felony death by vehicle, and child sexual exploitation.
The announcement underscores the agency's ongoing efforts to remove individuals convicted of violent or dangerous offenses from U.S. communities.
Acting Assistant Secretary Lauren Bis said, "Every day, the NICE men and women of ICE are putting their lives on the line to make America safe again. Just yesterday, they arrested murderers, pedophiles, arsonists, and sex criminals. Under President Trump and Secretary Mullin, criminal illegal aliens are not welcome in the U.S." According to ICE, nearly 70% of its arrests involve illegal aliens charged with or convicted of a crime in the United States.
Among those arrested were Maria Guadalupe Arreola-Rivera from Mexico for aggravated arson and attempted murder in Cook County, Illinois; Gerardo Diaz-Tecroseno from Mexico for felony death by vehicle in Robeson County, North Carolina; Ricardo Nava-Daniel from Mexico for endangering a child through sexual conduct in Monmouth County, New Jersey; Trinidad Manjarrez-Acosta from Mexico for sexual exploitation of a child in Mesa County, Colorado; and Luis Casco-Medina from El Salvador for sexual battery in New Orleans, Louisiana.
ICE stated that more information about public safety threats apprehended can be found on its official webpage.
