A Trumbull County man was sentenced on May 5 to more than seven years in prison for his involvement in a fatal shooting at a convenience store in Warren, Ohio. Jumal Ellis Rowe, age 32 and of Warren, received a sentence of 92 months from U.S. District Judge Dan Aaron Polster after pleading guilty to being a felon in possession of a firearm and ammunition.
The sentencing follows an incident on Aug. 3, 2025, when the Warren Police Department and the Trumbull County Sheriff’s Office responded to reports of gunfire at the Convenient Food Mart. According to court documents, several people were seen loitering outside the store before a fight escalated into gunfire around 5 a.m., resulting in one death and another injury.
Rowe had previous felony convictions for trafficking cocaine in 2013 and possession of cocaine in 2020. He will also serve three years of supervised release following his imprisonment.
Two other individuals involved were charged separately: Sean King, age 37, who pleaded guilty to being a felon in possession of ammunition and is awaiting sentencing; and Rayjon Ray McElroy, age 25, who was sentenced to 25 months after pleading guilty to possession of a firearm and ammunition by a prohibited person.
The investigation was conducted by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives Youngstown Field Office along with local law enforcement agencies. The case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Kevin E. Bringman for the Northern District of Ohio.
