U.S. Attorney’s Office for Maryland honors staff and law enforcement at annual ceremony

Kelly O. Hayes, U.S. Attorney for the District of Maryland, honored 19 staff members, eight law enforcement officers, and one civilian on May 7 for their service to the office’s mission.

The annual awards ceremony took place at the Edward A. Garmatz United States District Courthouse in Baltimore, where Hayes also introduced new Assistant U.S. Attorneys, Special Assistant United States Attorneys, and additional staff who joined since early 2025.

“Today we recognize the very best of what public service looks like. Our Assistant United States Attorneys, professional staff, and law enforcement partners bring extraordinary skill, integrity, and dedication to their work every single day,” Hayes said. “These awards are a way to honor the countless hours and unwavering commitment behind every case completed, every victim served, and every criminal held accountable. I am extremely grateful for and proud of my office’s and our partners’ teamwork and professionalism in everything that we do to further our shared mission of protecting our communities.”

Award recipients included Donzell Tate (Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation), Kari Spaniol, George Wahl, Guy Petrillo (all Federal Housing Finance Agency), David Rutledge (Federal Bureau of Investigation), Nicole Brianna Dell (FBI) with the Eugene P. “Pete” Twardowicz Award; Charles T. Gregory (Charles County Sheriff’s Office) with the Rod J. Rosenstein Award; James “Jaime” Bradley (Maryland Department of Public Safety) with the Hometown Hero Award; Aquana Murray with the Carl S. Lackl Jr., Award; Joseph Baldwin with the Barnet Skolnik Award; Jessica Dillon and Rebecca Koch for Civil Advocacy; Joshua Rosenthal and Darren Gardner for Fraud Prosecution; Brooke Oki, Spencer Todd (also recognized for Violent Crime Prosecution), Carolyn Mills for Law Enforcement Initiative; Alisha Swiger, Andrew Murray, Kimberly Bolarinwa,

and Kristy Penny for Legal Support; James Wallner for Organized Crime Prosecution; Coreen Mao and Thomas Sullivan received Deborah A. Johnston Profile in Courage Awards;

Jenaye Moye was named Employee of the Year;

and Thomas Corcoran received the Gary P.

Jordan Award.

Hayes commended all awardees: "I am extremely grateful for...my office's...teamwork...to further our shared mission." The U.S Attorney's Office is part of the Department of Justice,

employs over 200 personnel across civil,

criminal,

and administrative divisions,

and serves nearly six million residents across Maryland while prosecuting federal crimes,

handling civil cases,

and collecting government debts according to the official website.

The event highlighted partnerships between prosecutors,

law enforcement agencies,

and community members as essential to justice administration in Maryland.
