Park Lifts Fire Restrictions

News Release: WIND CAVE NATIONAL PARK, S.D. - Beginning at 6 o’clock tonight, Wind Cave National Park is lifting fire restrictions put in place last month. Over the weekend the park received over an inch of rainfall, greatly lessening the threat of a wildfire. Visitors and staff will now be allowed to have open fires in existing fire grates or in charcoal grills in the Elk Mountain Campground or nearby picnic area. Smoking will be allowed except in the park’s backcountry.
