Fire Island Preparing for Hurricane Sandy

News Release: Patchogue, NY - Fire Island National Seashore is preparing for hazardous weather and surf conditions in anticipation of the approach of Hurricane Sandy. Many island-based facilities have already closed, and ferry service to National Park Service developments at Sailors Haven and Watch Hill has ended for the season. (Ferry service is still operating on a fall schedule from Bayshore, Sayville, and Patchogue to the Fire Island communities, but watch for closures.).
