News Release: On Saturday, March 21, a portion of the land at the Arch Rock overlook at Point Reyes National Seashore collapsed into the waters 70 feet below. Two people who were standing near that location fell. Both individuals were evacuated from the scene. One individual died shortly after evacuation. One individual received non-life threatening injuries. The visitors' names have not been released, pending family notification.

Thunder Hole Closure

News Release: Repairs to the viewing area at Thunder Hold will begin on March 27. Construction crews will be mobilizing equipment this week into the left lane of Park Loop Road, resulting in the closure of that lane to snowmobile traffic. The right hand lane of Park Loop Road will remain open to motor vehicle traffic. The entire viewing area at Thunder Hole will be closed during construction and is scheduled to reopen on May 22, the Friday before Memorial Day.
