Mercer County Man Sentenced to Federal Prison for Sex Offense

News Release: BECKLEY, W.Va. - A Lashmeet man was sentenced to federal prison for a sex crime against a minor, announced United States Attorney Mike Stuart. Joshua Kevin Laxton, 29, was sentenced to 57 months in prison for travel in interstate commerce with the intent to engage in illicit sexual activity with a minor. Following his release from prison, Laxton will be required to serve 15 years of supervised release and will have to register as a sex offender.
