BLM to oversee Pine Hill Preserve pile burn operations

The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) Mother Lode Field Office will oversee a prescribed burn of roughly 200 piles of hazardous fuels beginning as soon as next week on approximately 20 acres in the Cameron Park Unit of the Pine Hill Preserve in El Dorado County. Burn operations may continue periodically through the spring depending on weather, air quality and resource availability. Smoke may be visible in Cameron Park, El Dorado Hills, Shingle Springs and along U.S. Highway 50.


Number of guns detected at TSA checkpoints in New York City regions airports increased in 2022

Release: NEW YORK -- Transportation Security Administration (TSA) officers stopped 39 handguns at New York City area airport checkpoints in 2022, an increase from the 26 guns caught in 2021. Each of the firearms were discovered by TSA officers during the routine screening of carry-on property at airport security checkpoints.

Release: PHOENIX, Arizona - Transportation Security Administration (TSA) officers in Arizona detected 230 firearms in travelers carry-on luggage in 2022, with the majority of the firearms discovered at Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airports (PHX) security checkpoint. Every one of these firearms was discovered during the routine X-ray screening of carry-on property. Nationwide last year, TSA officers found 6,542 firearms at 262 different airports.
