Department of the Interior publishes 94 notices in June

There were 94 notices published by the Department of the Interior in June, according to the Federal Register.

The most recent notice, Notice of Intent To Prepare an Environmental Impact Statement for the Vineyard Wind South Project Offshore Massachusetts, was submitted on June 30, 2021.

The Department of the Interior published 88 the month before, marking a 6.8 percent increase for the current month.

The Department oversees more than 500 million acres of land.

Downsizing the Federal Government, a project aimed at lowering taxes and boosting federal efficiency, said the department’s actions have contributed to a growing water crisis and holds many lands which could be better managed.

Notices are required documents detailing rules and regulations being proposed by each federal department. This allows the public to see what issues legislators and federal departments are focusing on.

Any person or organization can comment on the proposed rules. Departments and agencies must then address “significant issues raised in comments and discuss any changes made,” the Federal Register says.
