Yellowstone National Park welcomed over 1 million visitors in July making it the most-visited July ever for the park, according to a release from the National Park Service.
A whopping 1,080,767 visited the park in July, which was the first time visits exceeded a million in a single month. That's a 13% increase from 2020 and a 15% increase from 2019, the NPS stated.
“Increases to Yellowstone’s visitation have accelerated rapidly over the past 12 months and we continue to be on pace to set record numbers for 2021,” Yellowstone Superintendent Cam Sholly said in a press release. “We are actively developing defensible short and long-term solutions, with our partners, which focus on protection of park resources, improving visitor experience, and considering impacts on park staffing, infrastructure and our gateway communities and regional economies.”
Overall, visits for the year have increased from 2019 by 16%.
CNBC News reported that nearby Grand Teton National Park is also showing a significant rise in visitors and saw the most visitors in the park for a single June in its history this year.
