MIDDLE CLASS TAX RELIEF AND JOB CREATION ACT OF 2011
Committee on Rules: Full Committee held a hearing on H.R. 3630, the
``Middle Class Tax Relief and Job Creation Act of 2011.'' The Committee granted, by a record vote of 7 to 3, a closed rule providing 90 minutes of debate equally divided and controlled by the chair and ranking minority member of the Committee on Ways and Means. The rule waives all points of order against consideration of the bill. The rule provides that the amendment printed in the Rules Committee report shall be considered as adopted and the bill, as amended, shall be considered as read. The rule waives all points of order against provisions in the bill, as amended. Finally, the rule provides one motion to recommit with or without instructions.
Testimony was heard from Chairman Camp; Rep. Levin; Rep. Jackson Lee of Texas; and Rep. Johnson of Georgia.

NATIONAL DEFENSE AUTHORIZATION ACT
Conferees agreed to file a conference report on the differences between the Senate and House passed versions of H.R. 1540, to authorize appropriations for fiscal year 2012 for military activities of the Department of Defense, for military construction, and for defense activities of the Department of Energy, to prescribe military personnel strengths for such fiscal year.
