WASHINGTON – The U.S. Department of Labor today announced a $618,597 incremental award of a National Emergency Grant to provide job placement, skills training and other re-employment services for workers affected by layoffs at ATK Launch Systems in Corrine, Utah.

"The federal grant announced today will provide continued job placement assistance, skills training and other re-employment services to these Utah workers who lost their jobs through no fault of their own," said Secretary of Labor Hilda L. Solis.

The increment is being awarded to the Utah Department of Workforce Services. Funds will be used to continue the delivery of re-employment assistance to former ATK Launch Systems workers served under an initial award of this grant as well as to 25 additional workers affected by layoffs at the same company.

A grant of up to $1,234,762 was awarded by the Labor Department to the state of Utah on April 27, 2010, with $616,165 released initially. The increment of $618,597 announced today is the second and last under this grant.

National Emergency Grants are part of the secretary of labor's discretionary fund and are awarded based on a state's ability to meet specific guidelines. For more information, visit http://www.doleta.gov/NEG/.
