WASHINGTON, DC – U.S. Secretary of Labor Eugene Scalia issued the following statement in recognition of National African American History Month: “This month we reflect on the African American men and women whose struggles, accomplishments, and dreams are part of our national heritage. And while we remember the past, together we look to a future of opportunity, growth and success for all Americans.

“Thanks to President Trump’s policies, the benefits of our record-breaking economy are lifting up all Americans, including those who have faced obstacles in the workplace. Last year, we registered the lowest unemployment rate ever among African Americans at 5.4 percent, falling from 8 percent in 2016.”
