The Federal Reserve Board on Wednesday announced its approval of the application under section 3 of the Bank Holding Company Act of 1956 by Ameris Bancorp, Moultrie, Georgia, to acquire Hamilton State Bancshares, Inc. ("Hamilton"), and thereby indirectly acquire Hamilton's subsidiary bank, Hamilton State Bank, both of Hoschton, Georgia.
