The President's proposal will help deter corporate crimes by making it clear that executives and companies will face tough penalties including longer jail sentences for individuals.

"The Department of Justice has been and will continue to investigate fully the reports of corporate fraud, and hold the guilty parties accountable for misleading shareholders and employees. With the added weight of the Corporate Fraud Task Force, we will continue to hold accountable those individuals and entities who violate the public trust, undermine our free enterprise system and put at risk the retirement savings of American workers." 02-388
