Statement of Tasia Scolinos, Director of Public Affairs, on Today's Ruling in U.S. v. Moussaoui

The following press release was published by the US Department of Justice on March 14, 2006. It is reproduced in full below.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE TUESDAY, MARCH 14, 2006 WWW.USDOJ.GOV OPA (202) 514-2007 TDD (202) 514-1888 “The Justice Department is in the process of carefully reviewing Judge Brinkema’s decision and we have requested and obtained a court recess until Monday. Although today’s decision is disappointing, especially given the quick actions taken by Justice Department lawyers to report the misconduct which occurred without the knowledge of the prosecutors, it is important to remember the context in which this death penalty trial is occurring. The prosecution has successfully obtained a guilty plea and Moussaoui faces at a minimum life in prison without the possibility of parole." 06-138
