Florida Man Pleads Guilty to Child Pornography Charge

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE FRIDAY, MARCH 16, 2007 WWW.USDOJ.GOV CRM (202) 514-2007 TDD (202) 514-1888 WASHINGTON — Steven Padron, of Palm Beach County, Fla., entered a guilty plea today in West Palm Beach, Fla., to distribution of child pornography, Assistant Attorney General Alice S. Fisher of the Criminal Division, R. Alexander Acosta, U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of Florida, and William Sims, Special Agent in Charge, U.S. Secret Service, announced today.

Padron was arrested on Feb. 10, 2006. At a hearing held today, Padron pleaded guilty to one count of distribution of child pornography. As a result of this conviction, Padron faces a mandatory minimum sentence of five years imprisonment.

This case stems from an undercover investigation conducted by the Computer Crimes Task Forces of both the U.S. Secret Service and the Rockland County, N.Y., Sheriff’s Department. It was jointly prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Lothrop Morris of the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of Florida, West Palm Beach Division, and Trial Attorney Myesha Braden of the Child Exploitation and Obscenity Section of the Department of Justice’s Criminal Division. 07-159
