The U.S. Census Bureau has recently announced the launch of the Census Data Equity Initiative for Underserved Communities program in a press release.
The program's Nov. 2 announcement also includes the debut of the new Data for Equity website.
"A major part of our mission is to educate the public, policymakers and stakeholders on what data we have available and how to use them," the Census Bureau stated on the Data for Equity website. "We want to empower data users with understandable, accurate and timely information."
The Census Bureau also made datasets and other resources available to federal, state and private entities in order for them to make more equitable resource allocation decisions.
“We are committed to producing data that depicts an accurate portrait of America, including its underserved communities,” the U.S Census Bureau stated on Twitter.
More information regarding this program will be released by the U.S. Census Bureau in the following months.
Since its inception in 1790, the Census Bureau has collected demographic, housing, socioeconomic, commercial and other statistics on the nation's economy and people from a variety of sources, according to the agency's official website.
The Census Bureau also offers technical consulting services to foreign governments on a variety of issues.
