Secretary of Homeland Security Alejandro N. Mayorkas released the following statement regarding today’s announcement by Mexican Attorney General Alejandro Gertz Manero about a recent enforcement operation in Mexicali, Baja California that resulted in the arrest of seven individuals for their alleged participation in a human smuggling Transnational Criminal Organization: “I applaud Attorney General Gertz Manero and his office for the successful enforcement operation against a Transnational Criminal Organization in Mexico responsible for human smuggling. These criminal organizations prioritize profit over human life, and I am proud of the cooperation between U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP), U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), and Attorney General Gertz Manero’s team to exchange information in support of this investigation.
