The U.S. Department of Homeland Security announced on Mar. 16 that a criminal illegal alien from Mexico, identified as Deyvi Daniel Corona-Sanchez, remains at large after allegedly using his vehicle to attack U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) law enforcement officers in Burlington, Vermont.

According to the announcement, the incident occurred on March 11 during a targeted vehicle stop by ICE officers who were attempting to arrest Corona-Sanchez. He had previously been arrested for criminal trespassing and driving under the influence. During the attempted arrest, officials say Corona-Sanchez used his vehicle to ram ICE officers before fleeing on foot into a nearby residence.

Deputy Assistant Secretary Lauren Bis said, “On March 11, 2026, ICE conducted a targeted vehicle stop to arrest Deyvi Daniel Corona-Sancheminal, a criminal illegal alien from Mexico. He was previously arrested for criminal trespassing and driving under the influence. During the attempted arrest, Corona-Sanchez weaponized his vehicle and rammed our ICE law enforcement officers. He fled on foot into a nearby residence and remains at-large.” Bis also called on the public to report any sightings of Corona-Sanchez to ICE.

Officials stated that Corona-Sanchez illegally entered the United States in 2021 and was removed in 2022 but later re-entered the country at an unknown date and location. The department described him as dangerous and urged anyone with information about his whereabouts to contact the ICE Tip Line or submit information online.

The statement also referenced recent actions by public officials who have provided resources or guidance aimed at helping individuals avoid ICE encounters. These include webinars hosted by Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez offering tips for evading arrests, videos posted by Dan Goldman encouraging planning for potential encounters with ICE, multilingual flyers distributed by Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass advising how to evade arrest, and guides released by California Governor Gavin Newsom outlining sanctuary laws.

In conclusion, DHS reiterated its call for politicians and media figures to refrain from encouraging resistance against law enforcement efforts related to immigration.
