Secretary Salazar, NPS Director Jarvis to Kickoff a Martin Luther King Jr. National Day of Service Event on the National Mall - Archive

On Monday, Jan. 18, 2010 Secretary of the Interior Ken Salazar and National Park Service Director Jon Jarvis will help kick-off a Martin Luther King, Jr. National Day of Service event with informal remarks at the DC War Memorial. The community volunteer clean-up effort is a partnership between Greater DC Cares and the National Park Service. The event begins at 1 pm EST and will involve 75 youth and community members.

What: Martin Luther King, Jr. National Day of Service event at the DC War Memorial

When: Monday, Jan. 18, 2010; 1:00-2:00 pm EST

Where: Volunteers will meet at the World War II Memorial on 17th Street and Independence Ave. From there they will be directed by park staff to assemble in a grassy area at the DC War Memorial where the Day of Service will begin.
