The following media advisory was published by the Department of Interior on March 7, 2014. It is reproduced in full below.

LOS ANGELES, CA – On Monday, March 10, 2014, Secretary of the Interior Sally Jewell will join Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti to announce a partnership that will help connect urban youth in the Los Angeles area to the outdoors.

Prior to the announcement, students from Franklin High School will lead Secretary Jewell and Mayor Garcetti on a hike through Los Angeles State Historic Park.

Secretary Jewell has launched an ambitious youth initiative to inspire millions of young people to play, learn, serve and work outdoors. President Obama earlier this week unveiled the fiscal year 2015 budget request, which supports Secretary Jewell's vision through increased investments in the Department's youth programs, including through the National Park Service and the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service.
