House Energy and Commerce Committee Republicans issued the following announcement on December 14.
Democrats in the House just BLOCKED the “Strategic Production Response Act,”which would require the Secretary of Energy to develop a plan to increase domestic oil and gas production if the President draws down the Strategic Petroleum Reserve (SPR) for non-emergency reasons.

Along with failing to protect the SPR, one of America’s most important energy security tools, Democrats are continuing their radical agenda to shut down American energy development, production, and use. This will further raise costs on families who are paying for sky-high gas prices and record-breaking inflation.
Today on the House floor, Energy subcommittee Republican Leader Fred Upton (R-MI) said: “America’s Strategic Petroleum Reserve is one of the nation’s most valuable energy security tools, and this President and the Democrats are squandering it; using it for a political coverup for their anti-fossil fuel agenda.”
