Last week the Department of the Interior released their top 5 accomplishments for 2021 via social media. The top five accomplishments were as follows.
5. Honoring our relationship with Tribes and upholding our trust and treaty responsibilities are paramount to our mission. This year, we made it a priority to consult with Tribal Nations before policies were developed that impact their communities. That work continues in 2022!
4. We have joined the President's call to action to conserve, connect, and restore 30 percent of our lands and waters by 2030 for the sake of our economy, our health, and our well-being. The America the Beautiful initiative will help restore the lands upon which we all depend.
3. Interior is playing a lead role in creating a clean energy economy through increased renewable energy production on public lands and waters. We are increasing our commitment to: solar onshore and offshore wind geothermal wave and tidal energy projects
2. The Bipartisan Infrastructure Law is making significant investments in communities across the United States! The funds from the law are helping Interior with: Repairing and upgrading infrastructures Expanding access Cleaning up legacy pollution Creating jobs

Secretary Deb Haaland created the Missing and Murdered unit within US Indian Affairs to investigate these cases and marshal resources across federal agencies and throughout Indian country.
