Nine local, state and federal law enforcement officers and special agents have recently been recognized by the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Nevada for going beyond the call of duty in carrying out the office’s mission during 2021.
Those selected were honored for “their dedication, contributions, and collaboration with the U.S. Attorney’s Office towards reducing violent crime, combatting human trafficking, and preventing fraud,” a Dec. 17, 2021, press release from the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) said.
“These awards honor law enforcement’s commitment to maintaining public safety across Nevada,” Acting U.S. Attorney Christopher Chiou for the District of Nevada said in the news release. “Each recipient has made a significant impact in our communities, and our office is grateful for the opportunity to work with them.”
Those honored represent several law enforcement agencies including the Henderson Police Department, Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department, Federal Bureau of Investigation, the State Department’s Diplomatic Security Service and the U.S. Postal Inspection Service, the release said.
“The U.S. Attorney’s Office thanks all of the recipients, their colleagues, their families, and agency leadership for their continued commitment to promoting public safety,” the release said.
The U.S. Attorney's Office for the District of Nevada is the legal representative of the federal government in any court proceedings that involve the United States in Nevada or any of its 17 counties, the DOJ website said. The office is one of the largest of 94 federal judicial districts across the country, comprising of the entire state of Nevada.
