The U.S. Department of Commerce has released a compilation of its 2021 successes in promoting President Joseph R. Biden's Build Back Better goals with a list of the department's 21 most popular blogs.
Among the issues that received the most attention were Secretary Gina Raimondo's leadership in developing a new global economic framework that promotes U.S. interests at a meeting with the European Union; the department's $3 billion investment for economic revitalization in local communities from the American Rescue plan; and its work in creating economic opportunities for minority and women-owned businesses in under-served areas.
"Our strategy is designed to achieve an overarching goal: to improve America’s economic competitiveness so that our workers and our companies succeed in the global economy," Raimondo said in the Jan. 11 announcement.
Other list highlights include multiple accomplishments by the Census Bureau in identifying changes in the nation's population and demographics and how that enables the department to promote economic equality. DOC's international leadership in developing clean-energy economies to address climate change and its commitment to nationwide broadband access also made the list.
Investments in the nation's workers, infrastructure, technology and supply chains are the DOC's top priorities going forward, according to the announcement.
"The Department of Commerce continues to work every day to promote job creation and economic growth by ensuring fair and secure trade, providing the data necessary to support commerce, and fostering innovation by setting standards and conducting foundational research and development" DOC states in the announcement.
