Del Rio, Texas Border Patrol agents recently recovered the body of a deceased male from a water-filled gravel pit after responding to a call for assistance from Texas National Guard (TNG).
The body was recovered during the early morning of Jan. 8 after agents from the Eagle Pass South Station responded to TNG’s report of two individuals running away from soldiers and diving into the pit. a U.S. Customs and Border Protection press release said. While one individual was recovered on the edge of the pit in need of medical attention, the other failed to resurface.
“TNG told agents that the two individuals were part of a larger group observed running away from the soldiers,” the release said.
The surviving individual was transported to the local hospital by Emergency Medical Services, the release said.
Border Patrol Search Trauma and Rescue Dive Team members recovered the body of the second individual and he was pronounced deceased.
