In a virtual introductory meeting, U.S. Department of Commerce Secretary Gina Raimondo and Turkish Minister of Trade Mehmet Muş confirmed a continuing effort to boost bilateral trade between the nations.
In a release from the U.S. Department of Commerce, Raimondo noted that the Turkish government hasn’t always fostered a secure and predictable business landscape for U.S. investors and companies. Despite this, Raimondo and Muş were able to find some common ground during the Jan. 6 meeting.
“The Secretary and Minister Muş reaffirmed their commitment to deepening engagement aimed at increasing bilateral trade between the U.S. and Turkey,” the release said.
Raimondo and Muş discussed a string of recent successes in the digital and energy fields, agreeing to continue to seed common ground in these areas, the release said.
Raimondo and Muş also pledged to seek new opportunities to forward the digital economy and clean energy options for the region, the release said.
Separated by thousands of miles, finding agreement on a wide range of issues can prove to be a challenge. However, according to the release, the pair agreed to overcome potential roadblocks.
