Evaluation of the U.S. Census Bureau’s Award and Use of a Cooperative Agreement

We are initiating an evaluation of the U.S. Census Bureau’s (the Bureau’s) award and use of a cooperative agreement to participate in a joint statistical project with Research Triangle Institute, an independent nonprofit institution. Our objective is to determine whether the cooperative agreement was properly authorized, executed, and administered in accordance with relevant laws and regulations. We plan to begin this work immediately. We met with Bureau officials on December 13, 2021, and discussed in detail the specific nature of our evaluation—including our objective and scope, time frame, and any potential needs for us to be provided data.
