Washington, DC - U.S. Senator Barbara Boxer (D-Calif.), Chairman of the Senate Committee on Environment and Public Works, made the following remarks regarding the heavily redacted documents on the California global warming waiver decision that the Committee received from the Environmental Protection Agency today:
Senator Boxer said: "EPA's failure to comply with a legitimate request by the Congress for documentation on the denial of the California waiver is an insult to the American people and a dereliction of duty. Page after page of the relevant documents are whited out, and much of the key information is missing from EPA's response. As Chairman of the Senate Environment and Public Works Committee, it is my responsibility to get the bottom of the California global warming decision. Ironically, in attempting to defend its failure to respond, the EPA cites a Nixon Administration case related to the most infamous cover-up in history. This unbelievable brush-off by the EPA only makes me more determined to get to the truth."
