Boxer Statement: Highway Corrections Bill Will Unleash $1 Billion, Create Tens of Thousands of Jobs

Washington, DC - U.S. Senator Barbara Boxer (D-CA), Chairman of the Senate Committee on Environment and Public Works, made the following remarks after the President signed into law the SAFETEA-LU Technical Corrections Bill. The Senate had passed the bill by a bipartisan vote of 88-2 on April 17, 2008:

Senator Boxer said: "The technical corrections bill that the President signed into law provides a green light that will unleash up to $1 billion into the economy, creating tens of thousands of jobs. Infrastructure investment is one of the best ways to stimulate our economy - it creates American jobs and helps American businesses."
