EPW Committee Passes Formaldehyde, Recycling, Invasive Species and Other Bills

The following news release was published by the Senate Committee on Environment and Public Work on Dec. 10, 2009. It is reproduced in full below.

Washington, DC - Today, the Senate Environment and Public Works Committee passed several pieces of legislation, including a measure to create technology-based emissions standards for formaldehyde in wood products, a bill to help increase tools to more effectively recycle electronics, and a number of measures to address wildlife and invasive species issues. The committee also approved several U.S. General Services Administration (GSA) and U.S. Army Corps of Engineers resolutions.

All of the bills passed by voice vote, and now go to the full Senate for consideration.

The legislation that was voted out of the EPW committee today is listed below:

• S. 373, A bill to amend title 18, United States Code, to include constrictor snakes

• S. 1214, National Fish Habitat Conservation Act

• S. 1421, Asian Carp Prevention and Control Act

• S. 1519, Nutria Eradication and Control Act of 2009

• S. 1965, Feral Swine Eradication and Control Pilot Program Act of 2009

• H.R. 509, Marine Turtle Conservation Reauthorization Act of 2009

• H.R. 2188, Joint Ventures for Bird Habitat Conservation Act of 2009

• H.R. 3433, To amend the North American Wetlands Conservation Act

• H.R. 3537, Junior Duck Stamp Conservation and Design Program Reauthorization Act of 2009

• Army Corps Study Resolution - Espanola Valley

• S. 1397, Electronic Device Recycling Research and Development Act

• S. 1660, Formaldehyde Standards for Composite Wood Products Act

• GSA resolutions
