WASHINGTON, D.C. - Today, Senator Barbara Boxer (D-CA), Chairman of the Environment and Public Works Committee, issued the following statement in response the General Services Administration's (GSA) announcement of its intent to award a contract to design and construct a new federal courthouse in Los Angeles.

Senator Boxer said: "I am so pleased that GSA is proceeding with the construction of a long-overdue and much-needed federal courthouse in Los Angeles. The new federal courthouse will address security concerns to ensure the safety of the public and court employees, enable the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California to operate more efficiently, and create jobs in Los Angeles."
