The U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Tennessee late last month sentenced a Knoxville man to a 20-year federal prison sentence for a pair of child exploitation offenses.

A press release issued by the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement said the sentence was imposed after 43-year-old Timothy Chad Canady entered a guilty plea one count of transporting child pornography and an additional charge of possession of child pornography.

“Canady was paroled in June 2015 after serving approximately 12 years on a 40-year sentence for previous unrelated offenses,” ICE said in the release.

Court documents and witness testimony revealed that Canady had child sexual abuse material in his possession and transported it in interstate commerce through social media platforms to communicate with others to trade links, the release said.

Investigators determined that Canady had a total of 640 images and 153 videos of child sexual abuse material and used multiple phones, 15 email addresses, and 14 usernames to transport and collect the material.

ICE said that Canady will be required to undergo lifelong supervision by U.S. Probation and register as a sex offender with a state sex offender registry after he completes his sentence.
