Four La Quarenta gang members on Jan. 27 entered guilty pleas in a drug trafficking conspiracy.
According to a U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement issued press release, 44-year-old Corpus Christi resident Fernando Martinez was the latest of the quartet of defendants to plead guilty to conspiring to possess with intent to distribute meth, heroin and cocaine.
Martinez joined fellow defendants Jayden Wandell Coleman, 18; Carlos Acosta, 38; and Ricky Reyna, 34, all also from Corpus Christi, in admitting guilt in the conspiracy, which purportedly took place Sept. 6, 2020, to Aug. 26, 2021.
The release said Coleman, Acosta, and Reyna previously pleaded guilty.
ICE’s Homeland Security Investigations conducted the investigation that yielded the arrests.
“Authorities also executed search warrants at four residences and a storage yard in August 2021,” ICE said in the release. “They ultimately found a total of over five kilograms of cocaine, over four kilograms of meth, more than two kilograms of heroin; nearly 200 grams of crack and 13 kilograms of marijuana and over a hundred thousand dollars, digital scales, a drug ledger, and loaded firearms and ammunition.”
Next for Martinez is the sentencing phase, which will be presided over by U.S. District Judge David S. Morales, the release added.
If convicted, Martinez faces at least 10 years in prison.
