WASHINGTON, DC - House Energy and Commerce Chairman Fred Upton (R-MI), Energy and Power Subcommittee Chairman Ed Whitfield (R-KY), and Oversight and Investigations Subcommittee Chairman Cliff Stearns (R-FL) called on the Obama administration today to provide additional information on its new rules to regulate greenhouse gases under the Clean Air Act.
Energy and Commerce Committee leaders are seeking information about the agency’s plans to establish and implement New Source Performance Standards (NSPS) for sources that emit greenhouse gases, including such standards for power plants and petroleum refineries. The committee is specifically requesting information relating to the agency’s settlements committing EPA to issue such standards.
Earlier this year, the U.S. House of Representatives gave bipartisan approval to the Energy Tax Prevention Act (H.R. 910), legislation first proposed in the Energy and Commerce Committee to protect jobs and block harmful energy price increases by preventing the Obama administration from regulating greenhouse gases under the Clean Air Act.
