Chairman Roberts: U.S. Rice Export Market Open to China for First Time

WASHINGTON, D.C. - U.S. Senator Pat Roberts, R-Kan., Chairman of the Senate Committee on Agriculture, Nutrition, and Forestry, today released the following statement after the signing of the U.S.-China agreement to allow the U.S. to begin exporting rice to China for the first time.

“From rice to beef, I’m pleased to see the Trump Administration’s continued efforts to expand global trade opportunities for American agriculture producers."

“I thank the folks at the Department of Agriculture for their 10+ year effort on this important issue, and I look forward to seeing the first shipment of American rice land in China."

Chairman Roberts has been an outspoken advocate of increasing market access for American agricultural products into China, which is the largest producer and consumer of rice.
