WASHINGTON, DC - This week the House will vote on a package of energy bills designed to increase American energy production and create jobs. The Domestic Energy and Jobs Act is the latest energy and jobs proposal to hit the House floor this Congress as part of House Republicans’ American Energy Initiative. Included in the package are two measures advanced by the Energy and Commerce Committee: the Gasoline Regulations Act and the Strategic Energy Production Act.
“We have been a jobs-focused Congress since day one, and this week we will have yet another opportunity take a stand for jobs and the economy. Millions of Americans still remain out of work, and consumers are paying nearly twice as much to fill up at the pump as they were when President Obama moved into the White House. While the president and some congressional Democrats continue to blame others for these problems, House Republicans are focused on real solutions to put folks back to work and keep prices from rising. The Domestic Energy and Jobs Act will help create good-paying, American jobs by embracing our nation’s rich energy resources. Jobs will remain our top priority as we continue to highlight the great economic potential of American energy development and identify roadblocks standing in the way of domestic production," said Energy and Commerce Committee Chairman Fred Upton (R-MI).
